What is Baby massage?
“Being touched and caressed, being massaged, is food for the infant; food as necessary as minerals, vitamins, and proteins” ~ Dr. Frederick Leboyer, M.D
Touch is the primary sensory experience felt by babies when they are born. Massage is one simple way of delivering this powerful experience. Babies and infants feel secure, warm and most importantly loved when massaged.
Infant massage is an introduction of caring touch to an infant that can continue to any age.
Research has shown that Infant massage reduces crying times. relaxes the baby, improves sleep and helps with colic, reflux and constipation.
In these classes, you will learn different massage techniques that are a combination of Indian and Swedish massage along with some that are based on Reflexology and Baby Yoga.
You will learn how to create a suitable environment, follow your baby’s cues, what oils to use, how to massage safely and adapt to changes as your baby grows.
Infant massage classes are friendly, sociable and informal. They are a great opportunity to make new friends and connect with like-minded families.
Private and small group classes are most suitable for babies aged 8 weeks to crawling and can be attended by mums and dad.
Premature babies or any babies with special requirements are also welcomed.
